Youth Advisory Group (YAG) for Evaluating Gender Policy and Gender Action Plans Implementation in UNICEF
UNICEF seeks expressions of interest from young individuals passionate about challenging gender inequalities and promoting positive and more equitable behaviours and norms through advocacy and programming to join a Youth Advisory Group.
This group will play a crucial role in the forthcoming evaluation of UNICEF’s Gender Policy and the implementation of gender action plans. We are looking for enthusiastic young minds who are interested in research and eager to contribute to the evaluation process to support UNICEF’s mission.
Role of the Youth Advisory Group:
As a member of the Youth Advisory Group, you will have the opportunity to:
- Engage in the evaluation process, providing valuable insights and perspectives.
- Sense-check key evaluation questions to ensure they resonate with the youth demographic.
- Influence the evaluation design to make it more inclusive and youth-friendly.
- Validate and sense-make emerging findings and recommendations.
- Support the dissemination and sharing of results in an adolescent-friendly way.

Eligibility Criteria:
We are looking for young individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 who:
- Have a keen interest in UNICEF’s gender work in general, including mainstreaming programming or advocacy.
- Are comfortable reading and communicating in English, French or Spanish.
- Possess a passion for research and a desire to contribute to meaningful evaluations
- Are committed to actively participating in the Youth Advisory Group throughout the evaluation process.
Time Commitment:
Youth involvement is expected to take approximately five working days between January and September 2024. The YAG will meet on at least three (3) occasions to discuss i) the evaluation questions and the evaluation approach; ii) the data collection for the case studies; iii) the findings and preliminary conclusions; iv) the recommendations and way forward for UNICEF. Participation is voluntary, and no salary will be provided, however, compensation will be given in the form of reimbursement for internet data, travel and refreshments as necessary. UNICEF will also offer certification for the experience and provide training in evaluating policies and programmes.

Application Process:
Interested individuals are invited to submit their expressions of interest, including a brief statement (not expiring 500 words) outlining their motivation, relevant experience, or interest in gender issues and their vision for youth involvement in the evaluation process.
A selection committee will review applications, and shortlisted candidates may be invited for a virtual interview. The final selection will be based on aligning the candidates’ interests and experiences with the goals of the Youth Advisory Group.
