Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2024 at the University of the Western Cape for Africans

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is implemented by the University of the Western Cape (UWC). The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, launched in 2012, is a global initiative aimed at developing the next generation of transformative leaders by allowing highly talented, service-oriented young people, primarily young Africans, to pursue higher education and develop their leadership potential.

The Scholars Program is designed primarily for young people whose access to higher education is hampered by financial and social hurdles. The Program prioritizes reaching out to young women, refugees and forcibly displaced adolescents, and young people with disabilities, all of whom are invited to apply.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UWC supports academically talented youth from South Africa and other parts of the African continent. For the 2024 Academic Year, the Scholars Program at UWC will provide fully-funded opportunities for young scholars to study for i) undergraduate qualifications or ii) master’s degree qualifications.
