Call for Applications: UN Youth Delegate programm 2023/2024 for Ireland
The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) is inviting young people between the ages of 18 and 25 from all throughout Ireland to apply to be Ireland’s UN Youth Delegate for 2023/2024.
The hunt for Ireland’s next UN Youth Delegates has begun. Young people from all counties are asked to apply for the opportunity to represent Ireland at the United Nations.
Two young people will join Ireland’s delegation to the United Nations as part of the United Nations Youth Delegate Programme, which is organized in Ireland by NYCI with the cooperation of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The two successful young people will be able to participate in several intergovernmental conferences in New York, Geneva, and other places as the Program allows.
Valerie Duffy, NYCI’s Global Youth Work Programme Manager, explains: “We are looking for applicants from all around the country, so I would encourage any young people aged 18 to 25 to apply for this amazing opportunity to represent Ireland at the highest international level. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on the world’s most pressing issues. Young people in Ireland have a vital role to play in shaping the Sustainable Development Goals, and they are part of the first generation that can end extreme poverty and fix climate change.

The Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, Micheál Martin TD, said of the UN Youth Delegate Programme: “I’m very pleased that the Department of Foreign Affairs are once again working with the National Youth Council of Ireland on the UN Youth Delegate Programme. It is vital that the voices of young people are heard and reflected in Ireland’s work at the United Nations, and the Youth Delegate Programme provides an opportunity for young people to engage directly in our work.”
